Three Auburn 4-H club members are among. several from the area who are competing this week in the New England 4-H Dairy Show at the Eastern States Exposition. Exhibiting animals are Janice and Linda Keene and David Lane, Auburn; Cheryl Dunbar and Beverly Shores, Gardiner; Lee Roy Tillson, Augusta; Karen Markowski, Winthrop, and Lloyd Hardy, Farmington. Members of the Maine 4-H dairy judging team includes Colleen Hatch and David Lance, both of Auburn; Suzanne Shores, Gardiner; and Laura Perkins, Augusta.

Elizabeth Cooke, a Phillips resident and author of “Complicity,” will give her first public reading from her new novel, “Zeena,” on Friday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. at the Phillips Public Library.
