AFCI SERVICES. It seems we’re back to figuring out the most responsible ways to deal with the current COVID situation. AFCI is watching the science and has decided to hold off on any public activities or events – but we’re always eager for your ideas and support! And we’re currently offering rides through our N2N program. Call our number (207-824-4444) to request a ride. All drivers and riders must be vaccinated and wear masks; open windows and seating arrangements will also be adjusted appropriately.

AFCI is still offering free home assessments with Brie Weisman, Occupational Therapist. Are you feeling less able to get around safely? Are you considering if your home contains hidden dangers to your safety? Brie can help you figure out how to stay in your home and feel safe; call her to set up a visit: 207-364-7056. Two home-owners in recent weeks have been very grateful for Brie’s visits.

COMMUNITY. The Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce website (https://www.bethelmaine.com/events/) contains information on upcoming events in the area, including live music every Friday and Saturday night and pickleball games. Check also for upcoming shows and events at The Gem Theater (www.thegemtheater.com). Other recreational opportunities include the Valentine Farm pollinator garden and walking trails and the Davis Park Walkway, which has been extended to the Valentine Farm and now includes four exercise stations.

The next Community Supper is Wednesday, September 29, 4:30-6 p.m. at the Bethel Alliance Church – indoor seating, outdoor seating (weather dependent), and take-out.

The Bethel Food Pantry is open on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. TIPS from AARP.
