DIXFIELD – Gloria M. Downs, 90, of Dixfield died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021 with family by her side. She was born in Rumford on April 11,1931 a daughter of the late Albert and Osalie Legere.

She graduated from Stevens High School of Rumford. Gloria Married her true love, Albert (Frankie) Downs on July 9, 1949. Together they raised their family and spent 70 wonderful years together until he passed away in March of 2020.

She was a member of the Parish of the Holy Savior. She taught CCD in her earlier years and was a Eucharistic minister. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and family meant everything to her. She was a beautiful dancer and dance instructor, a wonderful seamstress and loved to knit.

She is survived by her two sons, Glenn Downs of Auburn, Jeffrey Downs and wife Debora of Auburn, four daughters, Janice Bradbury and husband Thomas of Minnesota, Jayne LaPointe and husband Lawrence Jr. of Dixfield, Jill Ridley and husband Scott of Florida and Debra Pykkonen and husband Matthew of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great- great-grandson, Carter Doucette.

She was predeceased by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Linda Downs; and three sisters, Joann Lloyd, Jackie Chiasson and Lucille Don.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all the wonderful and loving caregivers that have been there helping care for our dad and mom.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. at Parish of The Holy Savior.
