The University of Maine Cooperation Extension is offering food preservation workshops through late October. Sessions will be held in Lewiston on Sept. 30 and in Turner on Oct. 26, among others.
The schedule includes lessons on canning, freezing, pickling and fermentation:
· Sept. 28, 11 Municipal Drive, Scarborough; boiling water bath canning and freezing, 6 to 8 p.m., $25. To register, sign up online.
· Sept. 30, 200 Lisbon St., Lewiston; DIY pickles and fermentation, 4 to 6:30 p.m., free. To register, sign up online.
· Oct. 6, 53 Depot St., Freeport; boiling water bath canning and freezing, 5:30 to 8 p.m., $35. Sign up online.
· Oct. 12, virtual; fermenting vegetables; noon to 12:45, free, $5 donation optional. Register online.
· Oct. 21, 40 Emerson Cummings Boulevard, Old Orchard Beach; boiling water bath canning and freezing, 6 to 8 p.m., $29. Register online.
· Oct. 26, 486 Turner Center Road, Turner; boiling water bath canning and freezing, 6 to 8 p.m., $20. Register online.
