Born in Lewiston and a Lewiston graduate, she has served as the at-large representative for the past six years. In that time, she has navigated tough topics in an unbiased, open-minded manner and actively solicited input from those most impacted before making decisions, according to her announcement.

She said she goes above and beyond to be informed of all possible perspectives before voting. She meets with parents, students, teachers and community members and encourages their participation in meetings, as well.

She said she refuses to engage in political rhetoric and feels very strongly that the School Committee has no place for the political game-playing and divisiveness seen recently in local elections.

She said she works tirelessly to serve Lewiston and cited her dedication in her professional and volunteer work. She owns and operates a Lewiston-based private practice, providing mental health and substance use counseling and therapy services as a licensed clinician.

Parks has been contracted as director of shelter programs for the Lewiston Wellness Shelter and Androscoggin’s COVID-19 quarantine and isolation program since the pandemic began in March 2020.

She is on the board of directors for Trinity Jubilee Center and on the City Spirit Council, which brought the equity statement that was adopted by the Lewiston and Auburn city councils and by Lewiston Public Schools. She is on the Androscoggin County Jail Board of Visitors, addressing equitable treatment for staff and incarcerated people, on the L/A Public Health Committee and the Poverty Committee.

She lives in Ward 7 with her husband and children. Her daughter is a 2020 Lewiston High School graduate, and her son is a seventh-grader at Lewiston Middle School.
