Laurel P. Lee
LEWISTON – Laurel P. Lee, 96, a resident of Turner, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 3, 2021, at D’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston. Laurel was born March 2, 1925 in Turner, the daughter of Benjamin Poland and Roseman (Cramp) Poland. She was a graduate of Leavitt Institute. On September 26, 1942 in Livermore, she married Clifton Lee. They enjoyed 71 years together before his passing on April 24, 2014. Through the years she worked on the family farm, as a C.N.A. at Clover Manor Nursing Home in Auburn and Montello Heights Nursing Home in Lewiston. From 1983 to 1994 she and Clifton worked as caretakers for the Dupont Family in Connecticut and Florida. They were also foster parents for several years, taking in many children they raised like their own. She enjoyed hand sewing, doing embroidery, puzzles, and did an amazing job coloring pictures. Laurel loved to keep her mind busy too, she was very sharp and could tell you factual information on a daily basis. She considered herself very fortunate living at the Turner Squire Apartments. She had wonderful friends and neighbors there that she loved very much. She was a member of the Red Hats and was also very close to her church family. Laurel will be remembered for her loving kindness that was always shown to others. She is survived by her sons, Lawrence Lee and wife Mary of Leeds, and Gerald Young wife Karen of Brunswick, daughters, Marcia Timberlake and husband Carroll of Leeds, and Carol Ann Dunn of Lewiston; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her son Kenneth Lee, husband Clifton Lee, brothers Oscar and Theron Poland, her sister, Thelma Brown and grandson, Christopher John Dunn. The family would like to express a special thank you to Donna Hardy for her loving care and support to Laurel as well as other friends and neighbors that were always willing to lend a hand when needed.
