The First Universalist Church of Turner Center plans to host guest speaker Dr. Wayne Moody on Sunday, Oct. 10.
The service will be held from 10-11 a.m. at the church on Route 117, across from the library in the village of Turner Center.
Moody, who will talk about the ethics of the vaccine mandate, received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a minor in philosophy in 1974 from Providence College. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from New York Medical College in 1978 and completed his general surgery training from 1978 to 1980 at Brown University School of Medicine.
His orthopedic surgery training took place at Brown University School of Medicine from 1980 to 1983, followed by his Haffenrefrer fellow in orthopedic trauma at Brown University and University of Washington, Harborview Hospital.
He started practicing in Lewiston in 1984. He founded Central Maine Orthopedics in 1986 and was a staff member at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Central Maine Medical Center until 2009. He also founded the orthopedic center at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
Following retirement in 2017, Moody entered the National Catholic Bioethics Center certification program and completed the program with distinction in 2018. He enjoys woodworking, woodturning, fishing and hunting.
