A glass display case containing about $100 in merchandise and about $100 in bills was stolen during a night-time break at the Six Corners Store in Auburn. The showcase was recovered near the runway at the Auburn-Lewiston Airport before the break was discovered. It was 6:45 a.m. that police were informed by an airport official that the display box was sitting at the end of Runway 17. An investigation by Sgt. Robert T. Tiner Jr. and Patrolman Calvin Hunter showed the case was probably stolen from the Minot Avenue store. Patrolman Conrad Vaillancourt was dispatched to the store business establishment and found a broken window in the front door. Police said the thief reached in and removed the box-type display, containing a number of items including old coins, and bills.
