100 Years Ago: 1921

The first meeting of the season of the Y.M.H.A. was held Sunday at the Auburn Synagogue. Plans were made for the coming season. The following committee was chosen to arrange the entertainment for the next meeting: Sarah Roggle, Goldie Resnick and Mrs. R Rosenberg. The next meeting will be held in the Foresters Hall in Lewiston, November 13.

50 Years Ago: 1971

Lewiston High school athletic director Norm Parent will be back in coaching harness directing the Lewiston/Auburn senior hockey Twins on the Ice this winter, according to Wednesday’s announcement. Parent’s last coaching assignment at varsity level in school ranks was three years back when he picked up the State football championship as head of LHS program.

25 Years Ago: 1996

Poet Wesley McNair will be the featured speaker of the autumn meeting Saturday of the Maine Poets Society statewide organization, at the Governor’s Restaurant on Main Street in Waterville. McNair will address the group at 1 pm during the daylong meeting after a Dutch treat buffet luncheon. The University of Maine at Farmington professor has received grants for his poetry writing as well as fellowships and awards.
