DAMARISCOTTA — River Arts plans to present a solo show of artist Christine G. Aston’s work from Thursday, Oct. 28 to Wednesday, Nov. 17, in the River Room at 36 Elm St.

An opening reception is scheduled for 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.

“I would like to thank River Arts for this wonderful opportunity to display my artwork,” Aston said in a news release from the gallery. “These challenging times have given me the chance to reflect and dive back into the creative process. Refocusing energy to art after being a family caregiver for over 10 years has led me back to what I love to do — drawing in ink and painting with watercolors.

“Bold gesture with its immediacy helps me to create strong compositions,” Aston added. “The mood and energy of a painting is as important as the structure. Holding a degree in painting from the Maine College of Art has served me well. My ability to draw is the underlying thread binding my work together. Collage and a variety of materials help to convey, light, color and changing movement.”

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. For inquiries, call the gallery at 207-563-6868 or email info@riverartsme.org.
