BRIDGTON — Alanna Doughty of Lakes Environmental Association and Mike Davis of the Bridgton Historical Society shared their mill knowledge with the 17 participants who joined the Stevens Brook Trail History Walk on Oct. 21.
Rich with history, this trail walk focused on the mills from the Pondicherry Woolen Mill at the Food City site to the Smith Sash, Furniture and Coffins Factory on Smith Avenue.
Participants attended from Waterford, Sweden and Bridgton. Newcomers and people with a history of family members working in the mills participated and shared along with the educators.
Rotarian Carol Madsen, who chairs the club environmental committee, asked Kerry Cushing and Davis, both of the historical society, if they’d like to explore how they could work together. A meeting is planned for November with representatives of the association, society and rotary to explore how a partnership might be formed and could be achieved over the next few years.
Anyone seeking a role in this activity can contact Madsen at [email protected].
