To the Editor:

The power line Hydro Quebec, (CMP), wants to put through Maine is all about getting the most money they can! I’m sure Canada could use the “surplus” power, but not as profitable for HQ as selling it to Massachusetts.

Secondly, the “green energy” is not nearly as green as Solar or Wind.┬áThe thousands of flooded acres give off methane plus the loss of carbon storage in trees and other plant life. About 30 years ago CMP wanted to put a similar line through western Maine including Andover, where I live.

“No Thank you Hydro Quebec” was formed by folks in the area. At that time CMP gave up on the line. Let’s put an end to Foreign Companies telling us what is best for Maine.

Vote “yes” on question one.
