100 Years Ago: 1921

The Eight of Clubs met Wednesday in the first meeting of the season for action at the home of Mrs. John Seavey of 34 Davis Street, Auburn. Substitutes were Mrs. Howard Mann, Mrs. Ralph  Seabury and Mrs. Charles Abbott. Mrs. John N. Tibbetts of Pleasant Street, Auburn, will entertain the club in two weeks.

50 Years Ago: 1971

A new 1,200 foot double chairlift, five new trails and an expanded lodge at Lost Valley in Auburn will double the former skier capacity to 2,400 skiers an hour this coming season.

25 Years Ago: 1996

Mexico residents held an open house Thursday afternoon to honor Ida Luther for her dedicated service in the Legislature and Senate for the past eight years, and for her continued support to the area towns. Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, Brian Elliott, presented Luther with a plaque, a Mexico T-shirt, and an I Love Mexico pin on behalf of the town. Luther’s words of thanks summed up her years of service, “It was a privilege to serve you.”
