DETROIT — A man who had given a Cadillac as a gift to another person, only to have a falling out with the recipient, shot at the car this week when he saw it parked on South Main Street in Detroit, authorities said.

Wade Curtis, 35, of Hartland was arrested Monday on a charge of aggravated reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, according to Somerset County sheriff’s Chief Deputy Michael Mitchell.

A 35-year-old Detroit man was in the 2009 Cadillac CTS at the time of the shooting but was not hurt, Mitchell said. The bullet became lodged in the trunk of the car.

Mitchell said the initial investigation found Curtis had given the car to the Detroit man, but Curtis later demanded its return. Investigators were still working to get a fuller understanding of the dispute, Mitchell said.

Maine State Police and Pittsfield police assisted Somerset County deputies at the scene Monday.
