To the Editor:
Tubby, Andy, Wanda, and our families wanted to take a breath after the sudden loss of a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather to express our deep gratitude to so many in our small community. We are thankful for the quick actions of those emergency responders; from the dispatcher at Oxford County Regional Communications to the ambulance and fire professionals who answered the call for help. You all acted precisely, quickly, professionally, and compassionately. For this we thank you. You are the best of the best in your professions.
To those who joined us for the Remembrance Gathering at the Farm, we enjoyed spending time with you, laughing, and taking a trip down memory lane. Most of all, we felt George’s presence in each of you while you enjoyed one of the places he loved so much.
Words cannot adequately express the strength of the friendships and connections George cultivated throughout his life, but those he did create in all of you have unselfishly provided us comfort during this time of loss.
If anyone is so inclined to remember George in the spirit of giving, he was fond of the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and donations in his name could be made online at www.stjude.org or to a charity of your choice.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
