DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a Weslo Cadence 880 treadmill in good working condition. I no longer use it and it’s free for the taking. Call 225-3545 in the afternoon. — No name, no town

ANSWER: I bet this will be scooped up in no time.

While I’m thinking of it, I want to gently remind Sun Spotters that if you have a free item to offer that you include the town you live in so readers know how far they would need to travel before they call. Especially with the price of gas these days, it’s helpful information to have.

I also must remind people that Sun Spots is not the place to send letters for items you want to sell. You have to place an ad in Classifieds for that. The contact number is 784-6411.

Lastly, you must put your name and contact information such as a phone number or email address on all your correspondence to Sun Spots. I may need more information or have a question.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Does anyone know how to get iron stains out of a toilet bowl? — No name, no town

ANSWER: The products I’ve used with great success are Iron Out, CLR and Zep. They can be found at Walmart or a hardware store. All these products are very strong so be sure to ventilate the area, wear rubber gloves and carefully follow the directions on the bottle.

I haven’t tried it myself but I’ve also heard that OxiClean laundry detergent works well and it isn’t as caustic as the products mentioned above.

If the stains are light, you can try pouring two cups of white vinegar into the toilet bowl and allow it to sit overnight. Stains above the water line can be tackled with a paste of baking soda and vinegar.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Bolster Heights Residential Care Facility is asking for help with stuffing their residents’ Christmas stockings this holiday season. Donations of word search books, toiletries, cards, Chapstick, hats, gloves, calendars and treats for both ladies and gentlemen will help to spread holiday cheer. Donations can be dropped off at the main entrance daily or call 7841364 to speak to the activities department. — The Elves, Auburn

ANSWER: Yes! Let’s help those elves! Bolster Heights Residential Care Facility is located at 26 Bolster St. in Auburn. A big thank you to all the staff members there who do such a wonderful job.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: As telephone operators of the past, thank you for letting us get the word out for a long overdue reunion! We met Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the Village Inn in Auburn with 30 in attendance. Tables were set up in a horseshoe shape which made it perfect for visiting with each other. The food was delicious and our waitress was excellent in handling all of us excited and noisy former operators. A few of us agreed to be interviewed by a local radio station which should be interesting. Plenty of laughter and comments of, “Let’s do this again; it has been fun!” Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving, everyone. — Bev, Hebron

ANSWER: Wonderful! We were so happy to be part of this reunion by getting the word out. Let us know when and where to listen to that radio interview!
