LEWISTON – Sr. Irene Platt passed into eternal life on Nov. 16, 2021. Born on May 9, 1960 to the late Lawrence and Jeannette Platt. Sr. Irene was raised in Chester, Pa. She attended St. Robert Grade School and graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School for girls in Moylan, Pa., in 1978. Sr. Irene entered the Companions of Christ in Portland, Maine in 1980 due to her strong calling to serve the Lord. After her final vows, Sr. Irene served various ministries in the Portland and Auburn/Lewiston area. The latest being St. Mary’s D’Youville Pavilion Senior Living Center as a CNA and ministry at Sacred Heart Parish.
In addition to her parents, Sister was predeceased by her brother Joseph. She is survived by her brothers Lawrence, Michael, and Jim, her sisters Mary Ann and Teresa, and her sister-in-law Patricia Platt and several in-laws. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and the Auburn Community whom she considered family.
Services on Friday Nov. 19, at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn will commence with Reception of the Body at 11 a.m., followed by a time of public visitation at 11:30 a.m., and concluding with a Mass of Christian Burial in the church at 1 p.m. Committal Prayers will follow the Mass at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
