Roger “Rocky” Carroll Cyr

AUBURN – Roger “Rocky” Carroll Cyr, 83, passed away Nov. 15, 2021, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

He was born April 3, 1938 in Van Buren the son of Emile and Edna (Bell) Cyr.

Rocky attended local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School, class of ’55..  He served in the United States Army for three years.

On Nov. 24, 1962, he married the former Constance Nadeau and they spent 59 years of marriage together.  He cherished being a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Rocky started his career at the age of 15 working at Day’s Jewelry store as a stock boy, then became a jewelry salesman.  He then went on to work at J. Dostie Jeweler as a salesman & window dresser.  He took second place in a Seiko watch window display among all participants in New England.  He worked at Dostie’s until his retirement in 1999.

He was a devout Catholic and a member of Holy Cross parish in Lewiston and Holy Trinity parish in Lisbon.

His passion was listening to his collection of French music.  He will be remembered as a continual jokester. He took great delight in making people laugh.  Through his years of working, he made many friends and treasured all of them.  He was happiest when he was with family.  Special thanks to Alice & Margaret from Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice and to all the staff at Clover Health Care for their caring and concern, especially Christine and Carol.

Rocky is survived by his wife Connie, a daughter Michelle Cyr and longtime partner Scott Marquis; his grandchildren Anna Meservier and Katrina Powell and husband Ben; great granddaughter Piper Powell, brother Ronald Cyr of North Carolina, brother Reno Cyr and wife Claire of Lewiston, sister Rose Sands of Auburn, and brother Norm Cyr and wife Maryse of Florida. Rocky was loved and will be missed dearly.

He was predeceased by his mother & father and a brother Leland Cyr.

Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 7, at the Fortin Funeral Group, 217 Turner Street, Auburn.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 7, at Holy Cross Church, 1080 Lisbon Street, Lewiston.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of The Fortin Group 217 Turner St. Auburn.
