Santa Claus made a noisy arrival in downtown Livermore Falls Saturday as he chose to drive into town on a fire truck rather than in the traditional sleigh. Aided by firefighter Jim Leclerc, he arrived at the gazebo to greet several youngsters who had been waiting to share their Christina’s lists with him. While the youngsters and their families were awaiting Santa’s arrival, hot coffee and cocoa, along with other treats, were served by members of the Jay-Livermore Falls Rotary Club. Laurence “Putt” Pare provided seasonal music, singing and playing guitar, and Rotarian Gayla Drake was mistress of ceremonies. The role of Santa was played by Bernard Kilbreth. Local Rotarians have been sponsoring the “Spirit of the Season”  tree lighting ceremony annually for several years. Individuals or businesses may donate $5 to light a bulb on the tree in honor of someone. All funds collected from the  project will be used to purchase  coats and other clothing for children in the area.
