Robert R. Kellogg Sr.

RUMFORD – Robert R. Kellogg Sr., 96 of Rumford, passed away at the Rumford Community Home on Dec. 2, 2021, with loving family at his side. He was born on June 26, 1925, in Beverly, Massachusetts, the son of Lewis (Niles) and Lena Kellogg.

Bob was a World War II naval veteran and served on the U.S.S. Missouri, and was present during the signing of the peace treaty ending World War II. After returning from the war, he moved to Rumford beginning his 40 year career in the paper mill.

In July of 1952, he married Lillian Buotte of Mexico. They resided on Hancock Street in Rumford, where they raised their four children.

Always tinkering, Bob could fix anything, whether it was a household appliance or one of the children’s cars, once bringing his son’s car engine to repair on the kitchen floor. Bob loved camping and traveling, visiting his family across the country. After his retirement, he enjoyed morning coffee and chats at Freddie’s Restaurant with his good buddy Harold (Brownie) Brown.

He is survived by his sons Robert Jr. and wife Kathy of Rumford, William and wife Dorrine of Roxbury, Massachusetts, a daughter Corinne Frazier of Mexico, and son Craig and wife Kelly of Round Rock, Texas, a brother Ben Kellogg and Mary of Bethel, Maine, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Lillian, his parents and stepmother Thelma, sisters Katherine and Adelaide, brother Lewis, and son-in-law, Dean Frazier.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Rumford Community Home as well as Beacon Hospice for the compassionate care given to both of our parents.
