The Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and radio station WIGY plan to team up Friday, Dec. 10, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a Stuff the Bus Radiothon.

Radio host Mark Turcotte and Chamber President and CEO Shanna Cox will be joined in the studio by representatives from the nonprofits who help distribute the gifts to local families. Listeners tuning in will hear more about Stuff the Bus, which will support more than 1,000 local families, teens and seniors this year.

The Lewiston Auburn Chamber of Commerce, Walmart Auburn, and Walmart Distribution Center Lewiston are joining forces to help those in need during the holidays.

Friday’s radiothon will introduce listeners to the events’ distribution partners — Community Concepts, YWCA, Sandcastle Clinical & Educational Services, Promise Early Education Center, Safe Voices, New Beginnings, Trinity Jubilee Center, MAINE Community Integration, Her Safety Net, Tri-County Mental Health Services, and Kaydenz Kitchen.

The event invites anyone who would like to donate new toys and clothing to drop off their items by Monday, Dec. 13 at the LA Metro Chamber office or at one of the partner drop-off locations: Bangor Savings Bank, 170 Turner St. in Auburn; Champoux Insurance, 150 East Ave. in Lewiston; Hampton by Hilton Lewiston-Auburn, 15 Lincoln St. in Lewiston; Mechanics Savings, 100 Minot Ave. in Auburn; Ouellette & Associates, 1111 Lisbon St. in Lewiston; Walmart, 100 Mt Auburn Ave. in Auburn; Community Credit Union, 144 Pine St in Lewiston; the Auburn Lewiston Airport, 80 Airport Drive in Auburn; and WIGY Radio Station, 555 Center St. in Auburn.

On Tuesday, Dec. 14, the LA Metro Chamber Team will travel around LA on a Northeast Charter bus, collecting all of the donated gifts from the public drop-off locations and participating businesses, sort the items, and distribute them to LA’s non-profit partner organizations.

“Last year the residents and businesses of this region really stepped up with donations, helping hundreds of families have a warm and happy holiday. This year, as we partner with more organizations to support more families, we are counting on the generosity again. We are hopeful that this final week will get us to our goal!” said Chamber President and CEO Shanna Cox.

This year’s event will wrap up on Dec. 16 at The Colisee Club, 190 Birch St. in Lewiston, with a Business After Hours that is free and open to the public from 5 to 7 p.m.
