NEW VINEYARD — Saturday was Chester Greenwood Day in Farmington. Adding to the festivities for spectators gathering along Main Street in anticipation of the annual parade was a group of carolers from Gospel Light Baptist Church. Under the direction of Sue Jones, the group merrily sang all the traditional Christmas favorites, encouraging those nearby to sing along, as well.

Other members of the group invited passersby to partake of the free gourmet hot cider with caramel and whipped cream. There were homemade cookies, too!

A little way farther down the street, at the Farmington Post Office, a gigantic pair of earmuffs arched over the steps, providing a photo op for anyone wishing to pose beneath them.

One lady, visiting the Shiretown with her husband, expressed her delight at the whole experience.

“It’s been on my bucket list,” she declared, “I’ve always wanted to attend!”

Mr. and Mrs. Coral and Don Garrison from Augusta recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.
