Leo A. Daigneault

LEWISTON – Leo A. Daigneault, 91, of Poland, died Monday afternoon Dec. 6, 2021, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center with family at his side. He was born in Long Island City, NY on Feb. 14, 1930 and was the son of Joseph P. and Nellie M. (Beaulieu) Daigneault.

Leo grew up in Harrison, Maine and has been a lifelong resident of the Lewiston-Auburn area. On March 10, 1952 Leo married Therese Desrosiers and together they, in 1960, started, owned and operated “Dag’s Bait Shop” in Auburn. Raising their family there, he continued to own and operate the business for over 40 years until his retirement. Among Leo’s favorite enjoyments were fishing, hunting and bowling. He was a loving, dedicated and hardworking husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

He leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Therese Daigneault of Poland; six children Marie Ann Anderson and husband Raymond of Rumford, Philip Daigneault of Oakland, Robert Daigneault of Auburn, Louise Alai and husband Vincent of South Paris, John Daigneault and wife Karen of Poland and James Daigneault and wife Deborah of Auburn; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Leo was predeceased by his brothers and sisters and two grandchildren.
