Ivan J. Chicoine

AUBURN – Ivan J. Chicoine, 93, passed away peacefully on Dec. 14, 2021, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin in Auburn.

He was born Feb. 10, 1928. Son of Stanislaus Chicoine and Flore Lamareux. He was a devoted Catholic throughout his life and proudly served in the National Guard.

Ivan was predeceased by his loving wife, Elsa, who passed away July 4, 2019. They enjoyed traveling together, taking many winter trips to Florida. During the warmer months you could find them both at the beach. Throughout the year they would take many road trips together. They also enjoyed shopping and going to auctions.

He often talked about his dairy farm in Vermont and his horses he grew up with; one being Ramona and his beloved German Shepherd, Wolfe, who both crossed the rainbow bridge.

He cherished the time he spent with his family. Whether it was family dinners, playing UNO, or sharing his many life stories. He especially loved watching movies with his grandchildren. Ivan spent his time listening to country music, watching tv shows, catching up on the news and playing computer games online. He always enjoyed having company especially after his wife passed.

He is survived by his two daughters, Suzanne Turcotte and her husband Pierre and Diane Robbins (Beaucage); his son, Maurice Chicoine and his wife Jeanine; his grandchildren, Pierre Turcotte Jr., Jessie Turcotte, Angela Verrill, Crystal Johnson, Brian Beaucage, Danielle Petersdorf and Clint Chicoine; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services celebrating Ivan’s life will be held on Wednesday January 5, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home. Committal prayers to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
