Joel Bergeron

LEWISTON – On Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, we lost one of the good ones. Joel Bergeron, 43, spent his last morning at his home in Auburn, in the company and care of the love of his life, Kim Dupuis, as freshly fallen snow covered the ground. He had fought back against a recently diagnosed cancer as long and as hard as he could. Joel was in the sweet spot of his life. Following a circuitous path, he had become a skilled mechanic and enjoyed working alongside his father, Paul, and his Uncle Peter as part owner of Pete’s Garage in Poland. He shared their love of motorcycles, antique vehicles, long rides to beautiful places, and being part of the River Rats and AMCA biker communities. Joel was happiest riding with Kim on the back of his bike.Joel grew up in Minot with his parents and sister in their family home on a quiet dirt road. For many years, he belonged to the Minot Boy Scout troop that was led by a wonderful group of parents including his mom, Mona, and together they went on grand adventures outdoors. He attended high school at Hebron Academy and made lifelong friends there. He enjoyed fishing, reading, sitting around a campfire, engaging conversations, and live music. Joel shared his mother’s and sister’s love of art, creating drawings, paintings, sculptures, and giant stuffed animals that are a true gift to those he has left behind.Joel is loved deeply and will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He is survived by his fiancé, Kim Dupuis; his parents Mona and Paul Bergeron; his sister and brother-in-law, Jessica and Matt Young; his niece and nephews Liana, Quinn, and Avery Gobin; his brother and sister-in-law Keven and Lisa Pomerleau; nieces and nephews Cory, Dustin, Zachary, and Autumn; his uncle Peter and partner Linda; his cousin Michael; his aunts June and Jean who he grew especially close to while helping them care for his Mémère, and a large family of aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and nephews that were all important to Joel.He was predeceased by his grandparents Patricia and Marcel Larose Sr., and Lucile Lachance and George Bergeron; and his uncle Tony Kelly Sr. Joel felt lots of love in his last weeks, as he was showered with messages and letters of support, frequent visitors from near and far, and unwavering care from Mona and Kim. Joel was extremely touched by the contributions for his care from the Antique Motorcycle Club of America and from many family members, friends, and community members who came together to support him in his time of need. Funeral services will be held on Thursday Dec. 30 at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday Dec. 30 from 3 p.m. until time of service at the Pinette Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway Lewiston, ME 04240. 784-4023.Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed at http://www.lynchbrothers.com.
