Melvin C. Knox
CARTHAGE – Melvin Charles Knox, 63, of Carthage, died on Dec. 17, 2021 at Faulkner Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, of Covid-19. He was born on March 1, 1958, son of Robert, Sr. and Evangeline (Knox) Jackson. Melvin was educated in the Rumford and Dirigo school system and graduated in 1976 from the Region 9 School of Applied Technology for truck driving. Over the years, Melvin worked as a logger for Timberlands Logging, Northern Transportation, and 17 years for the Maine Department of Transportation in Dixfield.In his earlier years, Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, hockey and skiing. Later on, his time was spent watching racing and playing cribbage with his friends. He was mostly known for socializing with anyone who had time for a long conversation.Melvin is survived by his wife, Beth Collins Knox; daughter, Valorie Antone and husband Dylan; son, Spencer Knox and companion Icie Haines; two brothers, Robert Jackson Jr. and wife Lisa, Calvin Jackson and wife Johnna; two granddaughters, Makayla Barker and Olivia Antone; mother in-law, Brenda Houghton; brother in-law Ronnie Fidler and wife Dawn; a special little girl, Serenity-Rain Lathrop; many nephews, nieces, aunts, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Hazen Jackson; and grandson, Austin Barker.A service will be held at a later date.
