Claudette J. Marcoux

AUBURN – Claudette J. Marcoux, 82, formerly of Lewiston, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, at the Clover Manor in Auburn. Born in Lewiston on Aug. 3, 1939, she was the daughter of Noel and Annette Desrochers Bureau. Claudette was raised on a farm, taking care of 12 younger children. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of St. Dominic High School, class of ‘58. On Aug. 1, 1959, she married Normand L. Marcoux. Mr. Marcoux passed away on Dec. 22, 2018. She worked at Benoit’s Department Store for many years, and also as the bookkeeper for Enterprise Foundry. In her younger years she bowled in the Lucky Strike League, was active in Community Little Theater and the Red Stocking Revue, and was the lead singer with the Flashback Revue. She loved country music, swimming, roller skating, children and animals.She never had any children of her own but cared for many, including Jaimie Gonyea who called her and Normand “mom and dad,” and she loved serving as grandmother to Jaimie’s children. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Bureau.Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, 10 – 11 a.m., followed by a Liturgy of the Word Service in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery.
