Jean Delores Larsen

RUMFORD – Jean Delores Larsen, 89 of Rumford, died peacefully at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn with her family by her side. Jean was born 13 August 1932 in Portland, the daughter of Perry A. Gilbert and Janet B. Skillings. For most of her childhood, she was raised by her grandmother Olive Skillings. She was a graduate of Portland High School. On 22 November 1952 she married Paul I. Larsen, and they enjoyed 69 years of marriage.Jean worked side by side with her husband for over 40 years at Larsen’s Electric Service. She was a member of the Rumford Methodist Church and sang in their choir. She was also a chorus member for many years with R.A.A.P.A. She took great pride in her three children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. According to Jean, her morning was not complete until she had finished the Word Jumble in the newspaper.Jean was predeceased by her parents, her sister Eleanor Gilbert and daughter Cynthia Goodwin.She is survived by her husband Paul Larsen of Rumford, daughter Linda Foster and her husband Jeffrey of Salisbury, Mass., and son David Larsen and his wife Michelle of Rumford, four grandchildren, Lee Goodwin, Melissa Goodwin, Sarah Foster and Emily Foster and two great-grandchildren Grayson Goodwin and Weston Goodwin.The family would like to thank the Androscoggin Hospice House for their care and kindness during Jean’s brief stay.
