Julien Paul Gosselin

LEWISTON – Julien Paul Gosselin, a lifelong resident of Lewiston, died Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Montello Manor, with his wife of 53 years, Claire, and son, Chris, at his side, following a life-long battle with multiple sclerosis. His courage and relentless good cheer in the face of the progression of his illness was an inspiration to family and friends. Julien was born in Lewiston, Maine on August 15, 1941, the son of Emile George and Jeanne (Plouffe) Gosselin. He attended St. Peter’s elementary school, St. Dominic’s Regional High School, Auburn Maine School of Commerce, and the University of Maine in Orono. Julien was a teacher in Lewiston, Auburn, and Caribou. After Julien left teaching, he started a stamp company and sold stamps all over the world. Julien, Claire and Chris participated in stamp shows all over New England. Julien married Claire Laurendeau on July 6, 1968. The next year they were blessed with the birth of their wonderful and beloved son, Christopher. Julien and Claire were married for 53 years. They enjoyed each other’s company more and more each day of their married life. He loved spending time with his family, especially with Chris, and granddaughters Alissa and Sydney, at all seasons but especially over a holiday meal or at Old Orchard Beach in the summer. He adored playing whist with Claire’s extended family. A true son of Lewiston, he enjoyed watching ice hockey, but he was at core a Red Sox Fan, watching games on TV when he could not get to Fenway. Julien is survived by his wife, Claire, his son, Christopher, his two granddaughters, Alissa and Sydney, sisters-in-law Suzanne Manahan, Diane Kaufman, Jennifer Laurendeau, and by many nieces and nephews.Julien was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, a dear sister-in-law, Donna, and a beloved brother-in-law, Regis, Claire’s brother and a Yankees fan.A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2021 from 2-4 PM at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home. A memorial service honoring Julien’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 4:00PM prior to the memorial gathering at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A.
