DEAR SUN SPOTS: A few months ago, I needed help feeding my kitties and turned to the pet food pantry. Now we’re doing better and I feel good about being able to make a donation of kitty food to the organization.

I want to remind readers with pets about the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society’s Fetchin’ Food Pet Pantry. It’s a service offered to the residents of Auburn, Canton, Greene, Hebron, Leeds, Lewiston, Livermore, Minot, New Gloucester, Turner and Wales.

The pantry is open from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays except holidays. Inclement weather and harsh conditions may cause it to reschedule the weekly open day. The program helps the people and pets who live in our community. It runs on donations and cannot guarantee what food/litter it will have on a weekly basis. It’s also a first-come, first- served program. There are requirements to qualify. Call or go to gahumane.org/.

Also, if you’ve lost a pet or found a pet, contact society at 783-2311. Oftentimes, found pets are brought to the shelter and your fur baby may be there waiting for you! — Denise, Auburn

ANSWER: Thank you for the reminder! I have a friend who has come to the pet food pantry at 55 Strawberry Ave. in Lewiston for help and she told me how nice everyone is. It’s great that you are in a better place with your finances and can thank the pantry by donating.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for a mechanic who has a lot of experience with Subarus. I know I could look online or just try someone new but I really want some solid, reliable recommendations from my Sun Spots friends in the Lisbon/Lewiston area. — Alicia, Lisbon

ANSWER: OK, Sun Spotters! You know what to do.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you have names of auto detailing places in your Rolodex? — Sharon, Bowdoin

ANSWER: I sure do! Your letter reminded me that my SUV needs a good going-over and it’s best to have this done at least once or twice a year at a minimum. I have Heather’s Auto Detailing (you can send her a message on Facebook); F6 Detailing is also on Facebook or you can reach them at 240-8720. Yvon’s Car wash in Lewiston is another choice. They can be reached at 782-4009.

If you have a detailing service, especially one that comes to you, and  you’d like to recommend them, please let me know.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On New Year’s Day, I made the layered Rainbow Walnut Cookie recipe that was in the Dec. 31 Sun Spots and shared by an anonymous reader. I had all the ingredients and my 6-year-old grandson helped. When I first read the recipe, it looked like a lot of work, but I was intrigued with the recipe and ended up having a wonderful time making them. My family and I really enjoyed them the following day. The cookies are very attractive, too! I just wanted to thank this person for sharing the recipe. I don’t think people take the time to do something like this anymore. It’s such a joy to spend time with a child in the kitchen! — Anna, no town
