The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory that includes snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches Friday.

The advisory covers portions of southwest Maine until 10 p.m. Slippery road conditions — especially during the Friday morning commute — are expected. Snowfall could fall an inch per hour. Temperatures will reach into the high 20s.

The most amount of snow is expected along the Maine coast. Northern, interior areas of Maine are expected to get less snow.

Then gusty, northwest winds up to 30 mph through Friday night may lead to blowing, drifting snow.

Light rain and snow is possible Sunday with pockets of freezing rain across the interior.

An Arctic cold front will bring bitter cold air later Monday that will last through Wednesday morning. The NWS warns that highs in the single digits Tuesday and lows potentially well below zero Tuesday night are possible.
