100 Years Ago: 1921

Lewiston and Auburn Rotarians and their women guests will meet on January 19th at the Mansion House, Poland Spring. The afternoon will be given over to sports. Dinner will be served at 6 o’clock and Herbert C. Wilson of Worcester, Mass., the district governor, will speak.

50 Years Ago: 1971

The Pitch-In 4H Club met recently at the home of Maurice Keene where demonstrations were held. Taking part were the following: Danny Maloney, stuffed celery; Vicki Willams, gum wrapper chains; Vicky Cook, candles; Lisa Keough and Ruth Cole, macrame; Steven Keene, baby pizza; Bobby Hatch, how to fix a leaking faucet; Rodney Hatch, how to sharpen knives; Cheryl Hatch, how to make a dump cake; Eddy Gardner, how to make a lamp; Joe Gardner, a miniature garage; Nancy Thurston and Debbie Poole, bottle cutting; Barbara Keene, egg carton bells; Penny Cook, party mix; and Cheryl Davenport, tissue carnations. A parents meeting and supper is being planned for Jan. 27. Members of the 4H Club are now taking orders for vegetable and flower seeds.

25 Years Ago: 1996

The Friends of Ricker Library resumes its First Sunday series this weekend with a presentation by historical impersonator Charles Plummer bringing to life the Confederate Civil War Gen. Robert E. Lee. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a potluck supper. Those coming for the meal should bring a casserole or dessert to share. The program will begin at 6:30 and lasts for about an hour.
