Linda Ann Gonya

LEWISTON – Linda Ann Gonya, 82, of Poland and formerly of Auburn, passed away Sunday evening Jan. 2, 2022 at CMMC with family at her side. She was born in Lewiston, a daughter of the late Seth and Katherine McIsaac Davis. Linda grew up in Portland and Auburn, was educated in Auburn schools, graduated from Edward Little High School, class of 1957 and remained a lifelong resident of this community.Following high school, she graduated from Central Maine General (CMG, now known as Central Maine Medical Center) School of Nursing and began a long successful career as a Registered Nurse, having worked for many years at both, the former Central Maine General Hospital as well as St. Mary’s Hospital. She took great pride in her many years as an accomplished OR nurse and floor nurse, eventually transitioning to a position in Case Management prior to her retirement.On Jan. 31, 1959, she married Benjamin Gonya and together they settled in Auburn to raise their family. Her heart was most devoted to family, traveling, enjoying time with her beloved sisters, as well as coffees and outings with lifelong friends from her CMG Nurses Alumni Association.Linda was an avid supporter of all her children’s school activities and sporting events as they were growing up and that same support continued in recent years with her grandchildren as well. Linda was a loving, devoted and hardworking sister, wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She leaves behind: her husband of 63 years, Benjamin Gonya of Poland; her three sons, Peter Gonya and wife Cindy of Hooksett, N.H., Benjamin “Chip” Gonya and wife Susan of East Kingston, N.H. and Bill Gonya and wife Katie of Chester, N.H.; 10 grandchildren, Zackery and wife Emma, Nathan, Seth, Owen, Madisen, Nicole and Billy Gonya, and Abby and Dylan Trach; a great-grandson, Tuckerman Gonya; two sisters, Devone Baron of Baton Rouge, La. and Nancy Subler of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.Linda was predeceased by her parents. Visitation, The Fortin Group / AUBURN Saturday Jan. 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 12 p.m. Interment will take place in the Spring at Mt.
