President Nixon’s latest Vietnam troop-withdrawal order sets the stage for what could be an April announcement to pull back another 35,000 to 45,000 troops, declare the war over and place remaining GIs in an advisory role. Nixon announced Thursday that 70,000 would be withdrawn by May 1. The president thus would need to pull out only 35,000 or 45,000 more troops to reach the residual force of 25,000 to 35,000 men he indicated two weeks ago. Thursday was Spanish day in the sixth-grade English classes at Livermore Falls Middle School as students took their spelling words, which were all of Spanish extraction, and had to dress and act out a part as they taught a mini lesson on one of the words such as bolero, fiesta, poncho and stampede. The students were Dana Gower as a caballero, Randy Stewart as Carmen Miranda, Mark Melanos, Casey Joudrey, and Jan Carruthers with Spanish hats.

The material used in Looking Back is produced exactly as it originally appeared although misspellings and errors may be corrected.
