Marcel G. Pare

LEWISTON – Marcel G. Pare, 84, of Lewiston, passed away on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at Central Maine Medical Center. Born in Lewiston on Oct. 13, 1937, he was the son of Phillip and Simone Fillion Pare.

A graduate of St. Dominic High School, Class of ‘56, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following his service he earned his Bachelor Degree from the University of Maine in Portland, and then his Master’s Degree from the University of Maine Orono. He taught History and Government for one year at Lewiston High School, and then spent the remaining years of his teaching career at Bath Junior High School. While there, he spent most summers working for painting contractor Joe Tanguay. Marcel married Clarissa Edwards Everett of Mechanic Falls in 1962.

He loved fishing and hunting in his spare time, and was very proud of the 16 foot boat he built with his father-in-law, Reggie Edwards. He took decorative painting lessons, and then taught classes himself. This interest in art led him to take drawing classes in Norway and at Bates College. He was a kind and generous person, always ready to help others.

Survivors include his wife of Lewiston, two brothers, Rejean and wife Jackie of Lewiston, and Gerald and wife Kelley of Minot, a sister, Rachel Goff and husband Merle of Topsham; a stepson, Stephen Everett of Bath. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Phillip.
