Joseph P. Belanger
AUBURN – Joseph P. Belanger of Auburn passed away at his home on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022 with his wife and daughter by his side. He was 84 years old.
Joe (Chummy) was born in Van Buren on Feb. 26, 1937. In infancy, he was adopted by his fraternal Uncle Emile and his Aunt Cecile Belanger. Joe graduated from Van Buren Boys High School.
He served in the Army Infantry Corps. Upon discharge, he attended Hanson’s Barber School in Lewiston. He owned and operated Joe’s Barber Shop on Sabattus Street in Lewiston for more than 50 years. Joe was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer. He will be remembered for his loving nature and quick sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene of Auburn; a son, Kevin Belanger of Bath, and a daughter, Gail Belanger of Lewiston.
The family expresses deep thanks and gratitude to Androscoggin Healthcare and Hospice for their care and support.
