BRIDGTON — The Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club will be hosting the following speaker on Thursday, January 20, at 7:30 a.m. via Zoom: Gregg Dowty, Ed. D., Rotarian, Rotary Club of Dover,  NH, Rotary District 7780 Protection Officer. Gregg will present ‘The Effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on human development and health challenges’.

Gregg spent his entire career working with children, many coming from a background of adversity. He spent several decades working in central Maine. The study of ACEs has found that early adversity increases physical, mental, and behavioral problems later in life. Our early experiences contribute to who we become, the health problems we may encounter in the future, and the decisions we make later in life. This presentation will focus on adverse childhood experiences, the potential impact on development, the long-term consequences of stress and adversity, and the impact on brain development.
