Rita F. Woods

AUBURN – Rita F. Woods, 89, passed away Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022 at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born Dec. 4, 1932 in Mexico, the daughter of Joseph and Fostina (Peters) Arsenault.

Rita spent her entire life in the Mexico and Rumford area. She was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior and a member of the Le Paresseux Club. She loved playing cribbage, fishing, going for rides, scratch tickets and casino trips.

She is survived by four children, Sandra (Mike) Surette, Lisa (Mark) Arsenault, Linda (Alston) Roberts and Edwin (Louise) Woods; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed by her family and many dear friends.

Rita was predeceased by her parents; her son, Kim Woods; four sisters, Gloria Lavorgna, Marie Preble, Eleanor Martin, and Theresa Arsenault, a brother, Ronnie Arsenault; and a granddaughter, Melissa Newcomb.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3 at the Parish of the Holy Savior, 126 Maine Avenue, Rumford. Please dress casually in honor of Rita. At Rita’s request there will be no public visitation. The family requests that masks be worn at the church to show respect for other attendees’ health. Due to Covid there will be no gathering after the mass.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Androscoggin Hospice House for taking wonderful care of our mother.
