William “Bill” Stavros Kotsifas

BRADENTON, Fla. – William “Bill” Stavros Kotsifas, 84, passed away on Dec. 22, 2021 in Bradenton, Fla. with his wife by his side after a short and difficult battle with cancer. Born in Lewiston, Maine on June 29, 1937 to Anna and Stavros Kotsifas, Bill graduated from Lewiston High School and joined the Navy, spending much of his time in the Mediterranean. After the Navy, Bill worked at the Poland Spring Inn Golf Club in Maine where he met his wife, Kathleen Kinney. He later went on to Lynn Pattern Making and Design in Masachusetts starting off his 40-year-long career in the shoe industry which led him to work for companies like Champion, Cole Haan and Stride Rite, allowing him to work all over the world. Bill and Kay married August 22, 1965 at the Greek Orthodox Church in Portland and settled in Auburn raising their two children. He was a deeply devoted member at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lewiston serving as a council member and grill master extraordinaire at the annual festivals and loved watching his New England sports teams play.They later retired to Bradenton enjoying the sunshine, making great friends, and playing shuffleboard at his community, Mt Vernon. Bill loved making the annual summer trek to Maine where they spent time with family including his grandsons.Bill is survived by his wife Kay, sister Angelina (Becky) Divergilio of Sanford, brother Nick Kotsifas and wife Kathy of Sangerville, sister Stephanie Lupo of Boston, Mass.; daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Derek Karner of Belmont, Vt., son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Becky Kotsifas, grandsons Zachary and Broderick, of Wilmington, Del.; and his nephews.
