Congratulations to Sam Morrill and Hannah Snow for placing 1st and 2nd place, respectively, in the annual Patriot’s Pen essay sponsored by the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW). RLRS 7th and 8th graders competed with other students from the western mountain region of Maine in this annual essay contest. Sam and Hannah will now go on to compete at the district level with winners going onto the state and then national level. All students who participated wrote thoughtful essays about how to be stewards of their community, both local and on a larger scale. Sam and Hannah’s commitment to honoring both the environment and the needs of others helped them to stand out amongst a batch of strong essays by all. Way to go! You make us proud!
