During Portland’s citywide parking ban for snow removal, which began at 10 p.m. Saturday and lasted through 6 a.m. Sunday, 91 vehicles were towed to the Ocean Gateway impound lot.
“Sometimes there are as many as 150, but 90 is not uncommon,” Portland police Lt. Robert Doherty said Sunday. “They stay there for roughly 48 hours and then if they’re not retrieved by the owners, they go to the lots of the companies that towed them originally.”
The towing fee is $135, plus owners must pay any outstanding fees for any other parking violations.
By early Sunday afternoon, there were still about 40 cars at the impound lot.
