The Build Back Better Act is being held hostage by Republicans (all 50 senators including Susan Collins) and two Democratic senators, and by antiquated filibuster rules.

Many important policies and programs in the act — like the child tax credit and immigration reform — have already been removed, and they all need to find a way forward.

Most of what remains makes perfect sense, including fighting climate change and lowering prices on prescription drugs. President Biden’s Build Back Better Act complements the infrastructure bill passed, yet it is still being criticized as too expensive and/or unnecessary.

This act must move forward and pass, and soon, because many people in the U.S. are suffering and need help now.

The media seems complicit with Republicans, blaming Biden for the legislation being stalled, for the pandemic continuing, and how we left Afghanistan. President Biden has shown great courage and risked much in proposing and advancing the act. Its primary aim is helping lower and middle class families and seniors in the United States, supported financially by making corporations pay their fair share in taxes.

Reversing the huge Trump tax cuts is one way to pay for the Bill, and the act will make sure this happens. I ask people to join me in urging our congressional delegations to support it.
