Barbara Callahan Masselli
SCARBOROUGH – Barbara Callahan Masselli of Pine Point, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022.
Born in Lewiston on Oct. 28, 1939, Barbara was the daughter of James Forrest and Mary O’Brien Callahan. She graduated Lewiston High School in 1957 and went on to attend Westbrook Junior College.
On June 22, 1963, Barbara would marry the love of her life, Michael A. Masselli, also of Lewiston. Married for 55 years, together raising four children, Mike and Barbara lived life to the fullest.
Also known by family as “Nana,” Barbara was always up for good times. Whether traveling with Mike on the Empty Pockets up and down the East Coast and Caribbean, or shopping adventures with her friends, Barbara knew how to get the most out of her days. Preferring to spend her time around those she enjoyed most, Barbara was the host of many parties, with the Annual Beach Bocce Tournament being a favorite.
Barbara was an active community volunteer throughout her lifetime. She was a member of the Patronesses of St Mary’s Hospital and the Woman’s Hospital Association at Central Maine Medical Center. Barbara was also a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Lewiston and St. Maximillian Kolbe Church in Scarborough.
Barbara is survived by her four children, Sharon Joncas and her husband Fred, of Scarborough, Tom and his wife Maria, of Scarborough, Tim of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Sheila, of Quincy, Mass.; four grandchildren, Kelsey Masselli, Domonic Masselli, Elizabeth Masselli and Hannah Joncas.
Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband and high school sweetheart, Mike; her parents; her sister, Janice Costello and two brothers, Thomas and William Callahan.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care Barbara received at Maine Medical Center, with special thanks to Dr. William Lee for his years of wonderful medical expertise.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday Feb. 18 at St. Maximilian Kolbe located at 150 Black Point Rd., Scarborough. Private interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lewiston, in the spring.
