AUBURN – Irene B.
Henson, 88, of Auburn, passed away on Feb. 6, 2022, at D’Youville Pavillion, where she had been a resident for almost two years. She was also under Beacon hospice care for the last seven months. She was born in Lewiston on May 3, 1933, the youngest of four children to Alfred and Exilia (Ruel) Dagneau.
Irene lived in Lewiston most of her life and graduated from St. Dominic Regional High School in 1951. She worked for many years as the Office Manager at W.T. Grant, until its closing in 1976. She then worked as Secretary/Staffing Coordinator at St. Mary’s Hospital until her retirement in 1997.
Irene enjoyed knitting afghans and sweaters for her family, especially for her grandchildren, and loved day trips to Old Orchard Beach.
Irene is survived by her sons Michael, Tom (Diane) and John, all of Auburn; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren (with another due late summer).
She was predeceased by her parents; a daughter, Marie, a son, James and his wife Cynthia; three brothers, Robert, Gerard and Roland; and granddaughters Amie Wells and Jennifer Beevers.
