Organizers of the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival recently announced that they plan to hold the event in person on Saturday, June 25, in downtown Dover-Foxcroft.

The festival brings thousands of people to Dover-Foxcroft to celebrate the taste of Maine’s “official state treat,” the whoopie pie, according to a news release from festival organizers.

The festival was last held in person in 2019, but Patrick Myers, one of the festival organizers, thinks they will be able to have the festival in person this summer.

“We are optimistic that we’ll be able to hold the festival but will, of course, be listening to the recommendations of our local and state COVID experts,” said Patrick Myers, one of the festival organizers.

As in years past, the festival will include live music (this year provided by the Doughty Hill Band), artists, crafters, vendors, rides and activities for children, and thousands of whoopie pies. Myers said registrations are now being accepted for both bakers and vendors.

The festival is the largest annual fundraiser for the Center Theatre for the Performing Arts.
