WOODSTOCK — The Woodstock Conservation Commission is planning several snowshoe hikes on the Buck’s Ledge property for all interests and abilities.

Every Sunday, Feb. 13, 20, and 27, a member of the Conservation Commission will lead a snowshoe hike up Buck’s and Lapham and/or Moody Mountain. Meet at the Route 26 trailhead at 10 a.m. This hike can be 2-3 hours in duration. Bring your own snowshoes, snacks, and water.

During vacation week, Jane Chandler will lead a less strenuous snowshoe hike up Lapham on Wednesday, Feb. 23. This hike would be appropriate for children who want to get out and have a great view. Meet at the Route 26 trailhead at 10 with appropriate gear, snowshoes, water, and snacks.

And Paul Motts will lead a nature hike studying eagle courtship behavior and nest building on Monday, Feb. 28 with snowshoes up to Buck’s Ledge. Look down at the eagle’s nest on North Pond from that location. Meet at 12:30 p.m. at the Route 26 trailhead. This is a 2 mile moderately strenuous hike. Bring snacks, water, and snowshoes.

The Woodstock Conservation Commission is raising money to purchase Buck’s Ledge as a community forest for the Town of Woodstock. Consider donating to conserve Buck’s Ledge forever.
