BANGOR — Terion Moss scored a game-high 33 points and University of Maine at Farmington ran away with a 96-79 victory over University of Maine at Presque Isle in a NAC East quarterfinal Friday night at Husson University’s Newman Gymnasium.
The Beavers face Husson in an NAC semifinal between the East’s top two seeds Saturday.
Jack Kane added 18 points for the Beavers, along with a career-high 11 blocks, which matches the Division III-high this season. Dany Harris led the Owls with 18 points.
TRINITY 67, BATES 50: Ben Callahan-Gold had 28 points and 15 rebounds as the Hens (15-8, 5-5 NESCAC) ended the season for the Bobcats (9-12, 2-9) in the first round of the NESCAC Tournament in Hartford, Connecticut.
Gilbert Otoo added 11 points and eight rebounds for Trinity. Charles Redd had 10 points and five assists.
Jahmir Primer had 15 points and eight rebounds for Bates while Raheem Spence added nine points and 11 rebounds.
BOWDOIN 56, CONN. COLLEGE 53: James McGowan led Bowdoin with 17 points and six rebounds. as the Polar Bears (12-13, 3-8 NESCAC) beat the Camels (10-12, 4-6) in the first round of the NESCAC tournament in New London, Conn.
Manav Randhawa added 15 points and Xander Werkman added 10 points and four rebounds for the Polar Bears.
Ben Rice led Connecticut College with 11 points and 10 rebounds while Cam Schainfield added 10 points and five rebounds.
COLBY 64, HAMILTON 58: Noah Tyson scored 16 points as the ninth-seeded Mules (12-12, 4-8 NESCAC) beat the eight-seeded Continentals (12-13, 4-6) in a first-round NESCAC playoff game in Clinton, New York.
Alec McGovern and Will King each added 12 points for Colby, who will play No. 1 Wesleyan at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Matt Hanna added 10.
Nick Osarenren had 16 points and Patrick Mogan 14 for Hamilton.
MEN’S HOCKEY
UMAINE 6, UNH 3: The University of Maine scored four goals in the first period and made the lead stand with a 6-3 win over New Hampshire in a men’s hockey game on Friday at Alfond Arena in Orono.
Lynden Breen finished with two goals for Maine (6-17-4, 4-13-2 Hockey East). Adam Dawe, AJ Drobot, Ben Poisson and Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup also scored while Victor Ostman turned away 30 shots in goal.
Nick Cafarelli, Filip Engaras and Tyler Ward scored for UNH (13-16-1, 7-13-1). David Fessenden and Mike Robinson combined for 23 saves.
BOWDOIN 5, CONN. COLLEGE 3: The Polar Bears (8-9-4, 8-7-3 NESCAC) scored five goals in the third period to rally past the Camels (5-14-3, 4-12-2) in Brunswick.
Cam Berube, Chris Brown, Patrick Callahan, Ean Small and Luke Wheeler each had one goal in Bowdoin’s comeback. Callahan added two assists. Alex Kozic made 18 saves in goal.
Sean Detloff and Eric Fournier scored in the second period for Connecticut College with Seth Stadheim adding another in the third. Sean Dynan had 18 saves.
UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 4, SALVE REGINA 3: Justin Dixon scored 3:07 into the third period to lift the Nor’easters (17-3-1, 9-2 CCC) over the Seahawks (16-6-2, 14-4-2) in Biddeford.
UNE took a 1-0 lead when Jared Christy scored 54 seconds into the game. Salve Regina answered with goals by Seth Benson, Mitch Walinski and Kim Brendan later in the first. Anthony Sciucco scored before the end of the first and Collin Heinold scored in the second to tie it for UNE.
Billy Girard had 19 saves for the Nor’easters, while Nicholas Latinovich had 24 saves for Salve Regina.
COLBY 3, TUFTS 0: The Mules (14-5-2, 11-4-2 NESCAC) scored a goal in each period and beat the Jumbos (5-14-2, 5-10-2) in Waterville.
Alex Bourhas scored in the first period, Michael Morrissey in the second and Justin Grillo in the third for Colby. Andy Beran had 17 saves to get the shutout for the Mules.
Josh Sarlo had 36 saves for Tufts.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
COLBY 67, BOWDOIN 58: Caroline Smith scored 24 points as 11th-seeded Colby (12-9) knocked off No. 6 Bowdoin (16-9) in the first round of the NESCAC tournament in Brunswick.
Carly Christofori added 16 points for the Mules.
For Bowdoin, Callie Godfrey had 13 points and seven rebounds.Megan Tan and Annie Boasgerb added 11 each.
WOMEN’S HOCKEY
MAINE 4, NEW HAMPSHIRE 1: Celine Tedenby scored two goals, Elise Morphy and Mira Seregely added one each and the Black Bears (13-18-1, 11-13-1 HE) beat the Wildcats (11-19-2, 9-15-1 HE) in Orono.
Jada Christian gave UNH a 1-0 lead before Maine scored four straight goals. Jorden Mattison made 20 saves in net for the win.
Ava Boutilier stopped 22 shots for UNH.
MIDDLEBURY 7, BOWDOIN 1: Katie Hargrave had two goals and an assist, Cat Appleyard added a goal and three assists and Middlebury (19-0) rolled past the Polar Bears (10-8) at Middlebury, Vermont.
Sophia Merageas made 17 saves in goal to get the win.
Angelina Joyce scored for Bowdoin, while Danielle Marquez made 33 saves.
SOFTBALL
TENN.-MARTIN 11, MAINE 3: The Skyhawks (3-2) scored six runs in the fifth inning to pull away and from the Black Bears (0-1) in Statesboro, Georgia.
Anna Hazelwood went 2 for 2 with three RBI while Emily Gillstrap had a two-run double. Seeley Lane picked up the pitching win.
Maine’s Gabby Papushka and Kelby Drews each homered for Maine. Emily Reid took the pitching the loss.
GEORGIA SOUTHERN 9, MAINE 4: Faith Shirley’s three-run homer ignited a six-run fourth inning as the Eagles (4-2) beat the Black Bears (0-2) in Statesboro, Georgia.
Jess Mazur had two hits and two RBI for Georgia Southern. Rylee Waldrep picked up the win and Kastin Belogorska earned the save.
Keely Clark had two RBI singles for Maine. Kelby Drews and Kya Enos each had one RBI. Gabbie Siciliano took the loss, pitching three innings.
