Lester Oliver Prue Jr.

PERU – Lester O. Prue, Jr., 94, of Peru passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022 at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn. He was born Sept. 30, 1927 in Rumford, the son of Lester, Sr. and Mona (Francis) Prue.Lester was a US Navy Veteran of WWII, entering as a 17 year old in 1944 and being honorably discharged in 1946. He was proud to be of service to his country.He worked as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for many years. However, having never liked standing still or being bored, Lester worked as a deputy for Oxford County Sheriff’s Department & Constable of Peru and even dabbled in the real estate business. He also served as Commander of the Dixfield American Legion and as their State Chaplain. He was a Lt. Colonel of the Civil Air Patrol and volunteered for the DAV driving veterans to medical appointments.Lester enjoyed playing cribbage and loved his family.He is survived by five children, Lester A. Prue, Sr. and his wife Dale, Andrea L. Prue, David Prue and his wife Valerie, Pamela Prue, and James T. Prue and his wife Stephanie; nine grandchildren Aaron Prue, Adam Prue, Brian Prue, Catherine Sprague, Desiree Trepanier, Jason Prue, Michael Prue, Jude Prue, and Jennifer Prue; 13 great- grandchildren; nieces and nephews.Lester was predeceased by his wife Phyllis (Hodsdon) Prue; his parents; and his brother Alfred Prue.A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.Memorial Arrangements are with S G Thibault Funeral Home, 250 Penobscot St, RumfordOnline condolences may be shared with his family at http://www.sgthibaultfuneralhome.com.
