James R. Girouard

LEWISTON – James R. Girouard, 63, of Lewiston, died unexpectedly Thursday Feb. 10, 2022 at his home following a bout of prostate cancer.

He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 8, 1959, one of two children born to Rene “Skip” Girouard and Beverly Theiling. Jim was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.

Jim worked as a truck driver for 35-plus years. He loved driving.

He also loved riding his motorcycle. He spent summers riding with his large group of friends. In the past three years he was able to take several trips with friends. He went to Tennessee, and South Dakota. Jim described these trips as a once in a lifetime trips. He would take weekly rides around the state with friends and enjoyed everyone. Friends would describe him as the life of the party. He did enjoy life. Most recently he went to his first Bruins game and totally enjoyed himself. He had a generous heart and was willing to help anyone anyway he could.

He also loved animals. He had several pets over the years. He enjoyed his sister’s cats and friends’ dogs every chance he could. Jim was a loving, devoted and hardworking brother, son, friend, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

He is predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents; his mom, Beverly Theiling Girouard; great-aunt, Vera “nini” Strome; brother-in-law, Percival “Len” Jordan; and uncle, Raymond “Mickey” Girouard.

He leaves behind his father, Rene “Skip” Girouard and wife Debbie of Auburn; his sister, Terry Girouard-Jordan of North Yarmouth; his son, Christopher Loring of Virginia (and Christopher’s family).

Visitation Fortin / Lewiston, Saturday March 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
