Monique Janet (Potvin) Cote
LEWISTON – Monique Janet (Potvin) Cote, 60, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Feb. 26, 2022 at home with her husband Stephen by her side.
She was born in Lewiston to Fernand and Yvette Potvin, the ninth of 11 children. The family moved to Turner in 1974. She graduated from Leavitt Area High School in 1979 and from Thomas College in 1981 with an Associate’s Degree in Business. She worked at TD Bank for 24 years and retired in March 2016 due to health issues.
Monique married Stephen Cote on Sept. 27, 1997 at the Poland Spring Inn. He affectionately referred to Monique as his “wee bonnie wife.” They liked traveling, especially to Lac-Megantic in Canada for poutine and fresh bakery goods.
Monique enjoyed making jigsaw puzzles and watching western movies. Her favorite actors were Sam Elliott, John Wayne, and Willie Nelson. Her favorite movie was Stagecoach. She also enjoyed crocheting and spending time with family visiting and playing cards.
Monique was predeceased by her parents; her brother Richard, and her sister Gina.
She is survived by her sisters Rejeanne and her husband Michel Bisson, Denise, Ann and her husband Clay Nichols, and Joline and her husband Jeff Timberlake, her brothers Robert and his wife Stephanie, Donald, Gerard and his wife Arlene, and David and his wife Sally. She had several nieces and nephews, including great nieces and great nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home on Saturday, from 1 – 3 p.m. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery. Memories may be shared at http://www.albert-burpee.com.
